The idea was born after Katie graduated from college and while Abbie was busy being a full-time mom of two growing toddlers. Both of them dreamed of opening a business together that would have a purpose bigger than just the two of them.
Through their father's nonprofit Global Effect they heard about a group of women in the Dominican Republic looking for a micro loan to open a sewing business. They knew right away they wanted to employ them. Thus, their in-house brand, OKO, was born. It is hand-sewn and made by women in the Dominican and equipping them to Overcome, demonstrating acts of Kindness and giving Opportunity to those who need it most.
